Kazakhstan and France sales turnover rises beyond $6 bln in 2013

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Sales turnover between Kazakhstan and France in 2013 exceeded USD 6 billion, Vice Premier - Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said.

"France became the 5th biggest trade partner of Kazakhstan in 2013. The mutual sales turnover rose beyond USD 6 billion. Presently, France is the 4th largest investor of Kazakhstan and the volume of direct investments has totaled more than USD 10 billion in recent years," Minister Issekeshev told the Thursday session of the Kazakh-French Business Council in Astana.

He also noted nearly 150 French companies operate in Kazakhstan. "Over the last five years the number of French companies in our industrial sector has increased, not to mention our cooperation in oil&gas industry," the Vice Premier added.

Kazakhstan and France have already implemented 11 joint projects worth of USD 1.5 billion, according to A. Issekeshev. "There are promising opportunities for cooperation in the new spheres, including pharmaceuticals, tourism and agriculture," he concluded.
