  BERLIN. February 8. KAZINFORM /Marlan Zhiembay/ Kazakhstan and Germany have agreed to develop cooperation in metallurgy, engineering, agriculture and transport field.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev has made it public at a press conference following the results of the negotiations with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

As the Head of State noted, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany increased fivefold from 2002 and exceeded EURO 5 billion last year. 1,200 enterprises with participation of the German capital are registered in Kazakhstan.

"Today we agreed to develop cooperation in the spheres of metallurgy, engineering, agriculture, transport, telecommunications, education and medicine," the President said.

N.Nazarbayev emphasized that following the results of the negotiations there were signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the raw, industrial and technological spheres, as well as a solid package of commercial documents amounting to about EURO 2 billion.
