The event was organized with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of international cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan in the field of education and research.

In his opening remarks Ambassador of Germany to Kazakhstan Guido Herz noted that Germany was one of the first countries to recognize Kazakhstan's independence in 1991. Kazakhstan and Germany established diplomatic relations later on 11 February 1992. Since then, the cooperation between the two countries has only improved.

In February 2012, Germany and Kazakhstan signed the intergovernmental agreement on partnership in the primary industry and technologies. "The signing of the document has become another milestone in the history of economic and political collaboration between our countries. The agreements on the development of a dual system of vocation education reached by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel are also of paramount importance. The Government of Kazakhstan has already created a working group involving German experts to develop a corresponding model," the German envoy told the opening ceremony in Astana.

Currently, Germany and Kazakhstan are close partners in the sphere of economy. More than 160 German companies have operating representative offices and branches across Kazakhstan.
