Kazakhstan and Iran signed an extradition treaty

ASTANA. May 2. KAZINFORM Kazakh Prosecutor General Askhat Daulbayev took part in the first seating of the general prosecutors of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states during the visit to Iran, the press service of the Kazakh General Prosecutor's Office informs.

The main theme was the development of regional cooperation in fight against transnational organized crime.  The heads of oversight bodies of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkey participated in the seating.

Issues of improving the efficiency of interaction between regulatory authorities in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering in the region of the ECO countries were discussed at the meeting.

Kazakh General Prosecutor stressed the terrorism had changed significantly and become a major threat to international stability. The main tool in the fight against this evil is to unite the efforts of international community, and develop and implement joint methods of combating it.

The Tehran Declaration, which formalised the main directions of further cooperation of the prosecution authorities in the region, was adopted at the meeting. Kazakh Prosecutor General  held talks with his Iranian counterpart Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejehei and Justice Minister of Iran Seyyed Morteza Bakhtiari.

During the meeting A. Daulbaev also held bilateral meetings with the Attorney General of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Pakistan and discussed the main issues of bilateral cooperation in combating crime.
