Kazakhstan and Malaysia to exchange experience in economic diversification, institutional development

ASTANA. KAZINFORM On August 15, 2014 Kazakhstan Ambassador to Malaysia Dаniyar Sarekenov held a meeting with Dato' Sri Idris Jala, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Chief Executive Officer of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU).

In the course of the meeting the parties discussed the current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation in the light of the recent official visit of Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak to Kazakhstan on May 22-24, 2014, the Kazakh MFA's press service said. Taking into consideration the objectives of the national economic development agenda and further improvement of Kazakhstan's public service, Ambassador Sarekenov proposed to exchange experience between the two countries in the fields of economic diversification, institutional development, economic planning, as well as establishing contacts between government agencies responsible for implementation of government programs. Kazakhstan's diplomat briefed the minister on the current political and economic situation in the country and the main directions of development of Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy. In his turn, Dato' Sri Idris Jala highly evaluated the dynamics of Kazakhstan's economic growth and expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation between public authorities, including the areas of development and implementation of government development programs. PEMANDU is a unit under the Prime Minister's Department. PEMANDU's main role and objective is to oversee the implementation of the Government Transformation Program and the Economic Transformation Program, introduced in 2010. PEMANDU has been tasked to ensure that Malaysia is transformed into a high-income nation by 2020.
