Kazakhstan and Russia could jointly promote halal-certified product exports

At today’s Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum themed ‘Agriculture is the basis for strong economy’ underway in Kostanay region, the Kazakh President focused on the pressing food security issues on the principles of equality and consulting interests of each other. In five years to come Kazakhstan plans to develop almost 900 investment projects in the agro-industrial complex. worth 2.7 trillion tenge, Kazinform News Agency reports. 

The country sets a task to increase the share of processed goods in the agro-industrial complex by up to 70%. Large investment projects aimed at reducing dependency on food staples imports are being implemented in Kazakhstan. The President said 115 commercial dairy farms will be built countrywide to boost milk production by 600,000 tons. 15 large poultry farms with a capacity of 120,000 tons of meat a year will also be commissioned in Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added in the next five years Kazakhstan will develop almost 900 investment projects in the country’s agro-industrial complex worth 2.7 trillion tenge.

The Head of State prioritized the production of competitive internationally standardized green products, including halal-certified products.

Kazakhstan is one of the founding states of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS). It comprises 37 countries with a population of 1.5 billion people. The Head of State said the two nations could promote halal-certified products in the market of the IOFC member states.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited Russia’s business for closer cooperation in this direction.
