ASTANA. May 16. KAZINFORM An international conference called "Kazakhstan and the U.S. Twenty Years of Partnership for the Sake of Security and Development" will be held in Astana on May 18.

The conference will discuss the present state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the U.S. in nuclear non-proliferation, energy, trade, high technology, democracy building and regional security. The invited speakers from Kazakhstan include Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbaev, Environmental Minister Nurlan Kapparov, as well as Kazatomprom CEO Vladimir Shkolnik and others. Kenneth Fairfax, a member of U.S.-Russia Bilateral Consultative Commission on the New START Treaty; John Ordway, a former U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan; William Courtney, U.S. first ambassador to Kazakhstan, and others will represent the U.S. side. The conference is organized by Nazarbayev Center and the U.S. Embassy to Kazakhstan, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.
