ASTANA. February 6. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ Kazakhstan and the US have reached an agreement on exchange of diplomatic notes on the issue of easing visa restrictions between he two states. Today official spokesman of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs Altay Abibullayev has told a briefing.

"Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov paid his first official visit to the USA on January 30-February 1, 2012. At a meeting in the Department of State the Kazakh Minister held talks with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. To ease official, business, private, student and holiday trips the two countries reached an agreement on exchange of diplomatic notes regarding an agreement on issuing multiple entry visas for five years and unification of visa fees," A.Abibullayev said.

He noted that in case of adoption of the agreement, the U.S. visa for the citizens of Kazakhstan will be issued once for five years.

"Easing visa restrictions is very important in the context of protections of rights and interests of the citizens of Kazakhstan, as well as taking into account the fact that more than two thousand Kazakh students study in the US," the official spokesperson added.
