Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan set to develop 34 joint projects worth USD 4.5 bln
At today’s Majilis sitting Kazakh Trade and Integration Minister Arman Shakkaliyev revealed plans to increase Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan commodity turnover, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Deputy Askhat Rakhimzhanov drew attention to the decline in sales between the two countries over the past few years.
Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan turnover in 2022 made 5 billion US dollars, over 4 billion US dollars in 2023. And this trend was also observed in 2024. The Heads of State set a task to increase sales up to 10 billion US dollars, quite an ambitious and complicated task, he said. He also asked the Minister why the commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan decreased and how the Presidents’ task would be developed.
Shakkaliyev confirmed the commodity turnover between the two countries made 4.1-4.4 billion US dollars in 2023 and 2024. To achieve the mark of 10 billion US dollars the countries signed a 7 billion US dollars plan, including 34 projects worth 4.5 billion US dollars and seven trade contracts worth 300 million US dollars. He said Kazakhstan developed an additional action plan to increase commodity turnover up to 10 billion US dollars.
He indicated that price volatility was the primary cause of the decline in sales.
As earlier reported, deputies of the Kazakh Majilis approved the draft law on “On ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the regulation of the operations of the Central Asia international industrial cooperation center.
