Kazakhstan announces volume of Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan
The volume of Russian gas expected to be transported via the territory of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan is to stand at 2.8bn cubic meters, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.
It’s around 2.8 billion cubic meters, said Almassadam Satkaliyev, energy minister of Kazakhstan while answering the questions of journalists on the sidelines of the Majilis. This is the volume previously agreed taking into account the request of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The minister went on to point out that Kazakhstan can exploit other gas pipeline strings to transport Russian gas, which can be used to meet the country’s needs in natural gas, if necessary.
Satkaliyev stated the country is to benefit from the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and supplies of at least 800mln cubic meters of Russian gas via a pipeline string are expected this year.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan would digitalize railway communication.
