Kazakhstan assures OSCE - presidential elections to be transparent and democratic

ASTANA. February 28. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ The OSCE Chairperson-in Office welcomes a decision to cancel a referendum. Foreign Minister of Lithuania - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Audronius Ažubalis has said it following the results of a meeting with Kazakh Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev.

"As the OSCE Chairperson-in Office I welcome the decision to cancel the referendum. No referendum, though supported by many citizens, will replace elections," he noted.

According to the OSCE Chairperson-in Office, at the meeting K.Saudabayev assured that the elections in Kazakhstan will be transparent and democratic in compliance with all OSCE obligations.
