Kazakhstan bags gold in Fencing World Cup in Bahrain

The Kazakh team won a gold medal at the Epee Men's & Women's Junior Individual & Team FIE World Cup in Manama, Bahrain, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh National Olympic Committee.

Nurzhan Abzhanov, Alexey Kassatkin, Gabidin Mustafin and Kirill Prokhodov defended the country’s colors in the Men’s Team event.

In the quarterfinals, the Kazakh junior epée fencing team beat Saudi Arabia 45:36 and defeated China 45:25 in the semifinals. They also eliminated France 44:43 making an epic comeback in the finals to seize gold.

Karolina Fomina, Kristina Krassikova, Nataliya Zinyakova and Aryna Yakovleva finished fourth in the Women’s Team finals.

As reported earlier, Kazakh epée fencers entered the top 10 at the FIE Junior Foil World Cup in Basel, Switzerland.
