Kazakhstan banks to discharge USD 11 bln external debt in 2009
ASTANA. January, 20. KAZINFORM /Zauresh Balkenova/ Kazakhstan banks must discharge USD 11 bln external debt. Head of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Anvar Saidenov has informed of it today after the session of the Government, Kazinform reports.
?There are no defaults and the first payments are to start at the end of January?, A. Saidenov said. According to him the Bank TuranAlem is expected to make the biggest payment - USD 3 bln.
As was informed earlier, according to the National Bank of Kazakhstan external liabilities of the banking sector decreased by 1.8 per cent or USD 45.1 bln representing 44.8 per cent of the gross external debt. The ratio of the external debt to GDP of the Republic was 85.8 per cent against 92 per cent at the end of 2007.
