Kazakhstan begins developing National Export Strategy

The training workshop was held for representatives of public authorities and the business community with the participation of foreign consultants of the International Trade Centre (ITC ). The seminar was also attended by representatives of the expert working group on development of the National Export Strategy (NES ).
The main purpose of training is creation of a fundamental platform for all members of the state project to create, work out and further advance the National Export Strategy of Kazakhstan.
As noted by Jalil Bulatov, the managing director of the National Agency for Export and Investment «KAZNEX INVEST», as part of the President's instructions to create a comprehensive and aggressive promotion of non-oil exports, the agency «KAZNEX INVEST» together with public authorities and the business community has started to develop national Export Strategy of Kazakhstan until 2020. The special importance of developing strategies is related to the need for timely response to the global economic and financial problems that negatively affect both the global trade in general and trade activities in Kazakhstan. In this regard, the growing competition for export markets of countries with long-term demand determines the formation of a unified national policy development aimed at creating effective system of export promotion.
NES also substantiates the need for the expected large-scale production of goods by the Industrialization Map, in which it is important to establish the export channels in advance, and actively lobby for the export of Kazakh goods in foreign international markets.
According to the figures of the "Kazakhstan -2050" Strategy, by which the share of non-oil exports in total exports should rise to double by 2025 and triple by 2040, the target indicators of NES have been identified. They include increase in exports to 120 billion dollars in 2018, which will allow Kazakhstan to take 35th place in the list of exporters in the world (currently 43 items), and increase in the share of processed products in total exports in 2018 to 42% (in 2012 , 28 %).
Furthermore, additional indicators are the following: increasing commodity and geographical diversification of exports, the number of companies exporting jobs and increased brand awareness of "Made in Kazakhstan".
