Kazakhstan, Belgium seek to deepen interparliamentary cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium Margulan Baimukhan met with the members of the Federal and Regional Parliaments of Belgium, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh MFA.

The meeting was attended by Senator Goedele Liekens, member of the “Belgium – Central Asia” friendship group in the Federal Parliament, as well as Jasper Pillen and Marianne Verhaert, members of the Flemish Parliament.

The parties discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral interparliamentary and interparty cooperation, with a particular emphasis on prospects for organizing mutual visits by parliamentarians from both countries.

The Kazakh diplomat briefed the Belgian politicians on the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan and the key aspects of the country’s foreign policy.

The Belgian parliamentarians highly praised the domestic political and economic reforms underway in Kazakhstan and welcomed the expansion of trade and economic ties between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Baimukhan invited the Belgian politicians to attend the Astana International Forum.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan-SCO multifaceted cooperation had been discussed in Beijing.
