Kazakhstan Boxing Federation names Secretary-General
Merey Akshalov has been named Secretary-General of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.
By order of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation’s President, Merey Akshalov has been appointed as the Secretary-General of the Federation. 36-year-old Merey Akshalov is a world and Asian boxing champion, honored master of sport of Kazakhstan, reads the statement of the Federation.
To note, Akshalov competed for Kazakhstan at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Akshalov is a gold medalist of the 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championship in Almaty and Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Amman.
He retired from boxing due to health issues in 2014.
Earlier it was reported that a former member of Kazakhstan’s national football team David Loria had been appointed to the position of Vice President of the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
