Kazakhstan builds 2,569 new houses for spring flood victims

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has held today a meeting with the governmental officials for discussing the issues of restoration of social facilities and infrastructure, as well as construction and purchase of housing for the spring flood victims, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Ministers of industry and construction, enlightenment, healthcare, energy, transport and governors of regions reported to the Prime Minister on flood-relief efforts.

A new housing is being purchased or built for the owners of 8,650 dilapidated houses and apartments.

According to Kanat Sharlapayev, Minister of Industry and Construction, 2,569 new houses are under construction now, 619 of which have already been completed. 9,189 houses are being repaired, of which 8,939 have been completed. 4,918 out of 6,081 houses and apartments have already been bought for the victims of devastating spring floods.

Olzhas Bektenov tasked the meeting participants to ensure timely provision of flood victims with housing.

The Prime Minister was also reported on the course of social facilities’ restoration.

40 educational and eight healthcare facilities were damaged during the floods countrywide.

The Government has allocated 6.2 billion tenge for the construction of six new educational facilities. As for the damaged healthcare organizations, three of them will be built under the Rural Healthcare Modernization program.

102 sections of the republican highways have been repaired. Gas supply infrastructure is operating in a routine mode.

The Ministry of Industry and Construction together with the akimats was tasked to coordinate and control construction works.
