Kazakhstan, Cambodia mark 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Kazakhstan and Cambodia marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with a solemn event held in Phnom Penh, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.
The event was attended by high-ranking Cambodian officials, Minister of Tourism Huot Hak, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Khuon Phon Rattanak, Vice Governor of Phnom Penh, heads and employees of many other state institutions, Cambodians educated in the former USSR, diplomatic corps, accredited in Cambodia, academia, media and business representatives, as well as citizens of Kazakhstan, who permanently resides in Cambodia.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Cambodia Kanat Tumysh spoke about the 30-year history of relations between the two countries, and expressed satisfaction with the establishing of the Kazakh-Cambodian Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. He noted that direct flights from Kazakhstan to Cambodia on the route Almaty-Sihanoukville had been launched in October 2024. The Kazakh diplomat also emphasized that it was planned to translate the Treatise “On the need to strive for an excellent state” written by the great medieval Turkic scholar Al-Farabi into Khmer.
Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodian Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who attended the event as the Guest of Honour, conveyed his congratulations on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Speaking about the development of relations, the Secretary of State noted that the Cambodian side is interested in continuing relations with Astana in all areas. He especially emphasized that gradually strengthening relations with Kazakhstan in all areas is considered a priority of his country.
