Kazakhstan, China Presidents discussed trans-border rivers usage
BEIJING. April 16. KAZINFORM /Talgat Baimukhambetov/ The main event of the official visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to China was the talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao today in Beijing.

The two countries' Presidents had private and enlarged talks meetings where the status and prospects of mutual strategic partnership, and a wide spectrum of regional and international issues were discussed. The sides highly estimated the level of interaction between Astana and Beijing in 2008. The Heads of Kazakhstan and China complimented continual deepening of mutual political trust and effective cooperation in various spheres.
The Kazakh and Chinese Presidents confirmed mutual intentions to continue building up their political dialogue on a top-level, expanding cooperation in the trade, economy, science, technology, and culture and other spheres.
The Presidents also touched upon the issues of reasonable and mutually acceptable use and protection of the resources of trans-border rivers. The Chinese President confirmed readiness of the Chinese side to force official discussion of the issue of water apportioning of the cross-border rivers and provide the realization of the agreement, achieved at the 6th session of the Kazakh-Chinese Joint Commission on use and protection of the cross-border rivers, on development and coordination of the draft Agreement on control over the quality of waters of the cross-border rivers and prevention of their pollution.
