Kazakhstan, China to bring mutual trade to $40bn

 Kazakh Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Zhao Leji, current chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Kazinform Agency cites Akorda.

During the talk, Tokayev pointed out that based on unshakable ties of centuries-long friendship and mutual support, Kazakhstan and China have established exemplary interstate cooperation which consistently strengthens in a spirit of multifaceted strategic partnership.

Our countries have established an active and trustful political dialogue. Well-coordinated systemic work at levels of governments and parliaments is ongoing. Last year, we gave a start to the new golden 30 years of cooperation between our countries. Today, during extensive talks with Chairman Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang mutual interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation was confirmed, said Tokayev.

He went on to add that China is a key and main trade partners of Kazakhstan, one of the major investors in the economy.

We intend to bring the volume of mutual trade between our countries to $40bn in the short-term. In general, Kazakhstan accounts for half of China’s trade turnover with the Central Asian countries, noted the Kazakh Head of State.

For his part, Zhao Leji warmly welcomed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and noted the stable development of Kazakh-Chinese relations. He stressed that during the visit of the Kazakh President productive talks with the Chinese side took place.

In addition, the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress expressed confidence in the further strengthening of strategic partnership, deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation and bilateral relations at the new level.

The two commended the stable enhancement of interparliamentary relations between Kazakhstan and China as well as stressed the productive cooperation in a wide range of bilateral interaction.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan and China had signed documents worth 16.54 billion US dollars.
