Kazakhstan, China to work closely on projects in processing industry

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Kazakhstani-Chinese session for investments and development and the investment forum arranged by the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Agency for Export and Investments KAZNEX INVEST have kicked off in Astana today.

The Kazakhstani-Chinese joint program of investment and industrial cooperation is in the focus of the bilateral negotiations in Astana. The forum has brought together above 300 delegates from business sector, government and national companies of Kazakhstan and China. Kazakhstan is represented by Minister for Investments and Development Asset Issekeshev. Deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission Xiaotao Wang is representing the Chinese side. Participants are to discuss the possibility of implementation of joint projects in processing industry in Kazakhstan. "Kazakhstan and China are already considering joining forces on more than 20 promising projects in processing industry. We hope to proceed to implementation of these projects this year. We are ready to provide necessary assistance. I am confident that the talks in Astana will benefit both countries," Minister Issekeshev said, opening the session in the Kazakh capital. According to the Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, inflow of direct investments from China to Kazakhstan has totaled $12.4 billion since 2005.
