Kazakhstan Cinema Week kicks off in the U.S.

The Cinema Week kicked off in the U.S. as part of the Central Asian Film Festival dated to the Republic Day of Kazakhstan, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.

The best Kazakhstani films starring Kazakh actors Muslim Tauekel, Yerik Khamidullayev, Rustem Almagambetov, Olzhas Alzhanov, Bauyrzhan Satov and Aibek Serikhanov will be screened.

Joint efforts of the Kazakh Embassy in the U.S., the U.S. Global Music Partnership, and the Kazakhstan Cultural-Business Association of North America in partnership with Tiger Film Company helped promote the country’s cinematography in the U.S.

Addressing those present, the Kazakh Ambassador, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, thanked the organizers and actors for the presentation of Kazakhstani cinematography in the U.S. He reminded that a couple of months ago The Paralympic Athlete film was demonstrated in Washington. Besides, the book featuring The Cinema of Soviet Kazakhstan 1925-1991: An Uneasy Legacy. by Peter Rollber of Washington University was presented there. He also plans to release another book about the development of the cinema in independent Kazakhstan.
