Kazakhstan clinches judo gold at XV World Police and Fire Games in Belfast

ASTANA. August 6. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan has won its first gold medal at the XV World Police and Fire Games in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was Kazakhstani judoka from eastern Kazakhstan Askhat Elubayev who clinched the coveted medal.

According to Rinat Tasbulatov, the press attache of the Kazakh national team at the event, the 25-year-old Kazakhstani policeman beat his Romanian opponent in Men's 90 kg category.

As reported earlier, Talgat Kozhabayev from Astana won silver and Askar Zhandarov from southern Kazakhstan took home bronze medal in judo.

10 000 policemen and firemen and 20 000 guests from 75 countries of the world gathered in Belfast to attend the XV World Police and Fire Games. The next World Police and Fire Games will be held in Washington (the U.S.) in 2015.
