Kazakhstan closes Zhibek Zholy checkpoint on border with Uzbekistan

In conection with the closure of the Gisht-Kuprik checkpoint by the Uzbek side for a four-month period for construction works, the Zhibek Zholy checkpoint on the Kazakh side will be closed from February 5, 2025, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan informs that individuals crossing the border through the above-mentioned checkpoints on foot and by vehicles are advised to reconsider their routes, a statement from the committee reads.

The committee notes that border crossing for pedestrians will be available through the Kaplanbek, Konysbayev, Syrdarya and Tselinnyi border checkpoints, and for freight vehicles - through Konysbaev, Atameken, Kazygurt and Tazhen checkpoints.

Border crossing for railway transport will be available through the Saryagash and Beineu railway checkpoints.

Earlier, Kazinform reported that Kazakhstan plans to modernize nine checkpoints to reduce border crossing time.
