"As you may know, in 2004, presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin agreed to extend the Baikonur booster site lease until 2050. The Government of Kazakhstan confirms its commitment to the agreements previously reached. In October 2012, Nazarbayev and Putin instructed the intergovernmental commission to work out relevant amendments to the regulatory framework of the Kazakh-Russian cooperation in that sphere. The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation are allies and strategic partners, especially in the space sector. All problems that may arise will be tabled by the intergovernmental commission headed by deputy prime ministers of the two countries. There are no questions that cannot be solved through constructive negotiations between the strategic partners," K. Kelimbetov said.
