The joint sitting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the XVI plenary sitting of the CSTO PA kicked off in Moscow, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Representatives of legislative bodies of CSTO member states, excluding Armenia, are attending the event. The Kazakh delegation is led by Majilis speaker Yerlan Koshanov.

Addressing those present Koshanov said the sitting is being held amid the unprecedented escalation of the geopolitical situation. Despite the efforts of the international community, the situation in the Middle East remains highly intense and increasingly influences the architecture of international security.

He said Kazakhstan stands for an immediate ceasefire and seeking a peaceful solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

As earlier reported, Kazakhstan sent 1 million dollars in relief and humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine.
