Kazakhstan could be a good resource support base for ISAF activities in Afghanistan - Nazarbayev
LISBON. November 20. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakhstan could become a convenient base for resource support of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, providing it with food, construction materials, and training specialists in a variety of specialties. President Nursultan Nazarbayev made it public at the NATO Summit in Lisbon on Saturday.
According to the Kazakh President, for nine years Kazakhstan has been helping in provision of an uninterrupted supply of international forces in accordance with the agreements on the transit of nonmilitary cargo between Kazakhstan and NATO, as well as bilateral agreements with the US, Germany, France and Spain.
"During the years of anti-terrorist operation 13 thousand flights were made and 15 thousand containers were transported by railroad via Kazakhstan. In addition we are preparing to expand the transit potential for NATO cargo through the Caspian port of Aktau", N. Nazarbayev noted.
