Kazakhstan defeats Portugal in last seconds at FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan
Kazakhstan's futsal team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024, Kazinform News Agency reports citing Olympic.kz.
Kazakhstan clashed with Portugal's reign as world champion in the quarterfinal match. Chingiz Yessenamanov put Team Kazakhstan on the scoreboard. However, opponents from Portugal tied the score. The first half’s ending saw Dauren Tursagulov restoring the national team lead with the second goal. Thus, Team Portugal lost 2-1 in the round of 16 to Kazakhstan.
Recall, the national team of Kazakhstan took second place in Group D, scoring seven points.
Kazakhstan vs Spain match at the start of the tournament ended in a draw (1:1). The Kazakh side then defeated the teams of Libya (4:1) and New Zealand (10:0).
The tenth FIFA Futsal World Cup is running in Uzbekistan from 14 September until 6 October.
