Kazakhstan delegation held talks with the Director of the Directorate for External Relations of the European Council in Strasbourg
ASTANA. October 31. KAZINFORM On October 29, Kazakhstan delegation led by Alexei Volkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, held talks with Zoltán Taubner, Director of the Directorate for External Relations of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The delegation also included representatives of Kazakhstan's Supreme Court and Office of the Prosecutor General, Kazinform has learnt from the Kazakh MFA's press service.
During the event, they had substantive discussions and exchange views on strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe in the field of criminal justice. The negotiations resulted in an agreement to launch a joint project in the form of step-by-step Action Plan for the good-neighborly cooperation priorities for 2014-2015. Aim of the plan is to accelerate the accession of Kazakhstan to the relevant European conventions.
During the visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Volkov also met with Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the European Council, to discuss the current and further development of the bilateral cooperation, and Wolfgang Rau,Executive Secretary of the Group of States against corruption (GRECO).
