Kazakhstan delivers 3rd batch of nuclear fuel for Chinese NPP

Samruk Kazyna Board Chairman Nurlan Zhakupov took part in the acceptance of fuel assembles of Kazakhstani production at the nuclear power plant in Yanji, China, Kazinform Agency cites the Telegram channel of the Samruk Kazyna National Welfare Fund. 

The project proves that our countries can and implement high-technology productions, said Zhakupov.

The Fund’s chief thanked all the specialists of Chinese and Kazakh sides that contributed to the project’s successful realization and wished ULBA FA (fuel assemblies) to reach the capacity of 200 tons of uranium in 2024.

In 2015, Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom and China’s CGN set up the ULBA FA producing high-technology nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, enabling Kazakhstan to enter a limited number of countries producing and delivering nuclear fuel for atomic power stations.
