Kazakhstan diplomats visit city of Eger

ASTANA. February 20. KAZINFORM /Karina Worku/ The city of Eger, which is located in the south-eastern region of Hungary, hosted Kazakh diplomats, who arrived with the aim of introducing modern developments in Kazakhstan to the city?s inhabitants.

Deputies of local executive bodies, representatives of regional administrations, business-circles, local and national mass media took part in the round-table discussion on the prospects of Kazakhstan-Hungarian cooperation, including cooperation within the framework of RK ?Road to Europe? State Program. Participants were presented with the information on political and economic reforms taking place in Kazakhstan and anti-crisis measures that are being implemented. A conference under the title ?Kazakhstan model of inter-national and inter-religious harmony? was also organized as part of the visit. Kazakhstan?s diplomats talked about the country?s contribution to the maintenance of regional and global security, highlighting initiatives propagated by President Nazarbayev, such as creation of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, convocation of the Council on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, conduction of Visits of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, organization of conferences of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Muslim world and the West ?One World: Progress through Diversity?. Hungarian participants noted that Kazakhstan?s model of inter-ethnic and inter-faith harmony should serve as an example to many countries. In his speech mayor of the city of Eger, Dezo Hedi, thanked the Embassy of Kazakhstan for the organization of this event during which the residents of south-eastern region of Hungary got the chance to acquaint themselves with the achievements of Kazakhstan, its culture and traditions. He also invited the diplomats to participate as Honoured Guests in the international festival of the People of the East, which is held annually every august in that region. After the conference a screening of the movie ?Kazakhstan today: unity of the people ? key national asset? was held in Hungarian. The movie was produced by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Budapest in collaboration with the Hungarian company ?SAYAN MEDIA?. Also a presentation of the book ?To Hungarians about Kazakhstan?, which was published by the embassy in Hungarian language, was held. In concluding remarks a common opinion was shared that this sort of events demonstrate a great affinity between historical and cultural traditions, and promote mutual understanding and development of connections between the people of the two countries.
