Kazakhstan discusses artificial forestation development at COP28

A delegation of the Kazakh Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources held talks with reps of Mitsubishi Corporation and Ernst&Young on the margins of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in the UAE, Kazinform News Agency cites the ministry’s press service.

During the talks, the sides agreed to use Japan’s technologies in the implementation of joint projects on artificial forestation in order to reduce and absorb greenhouse gas emissions. Utmost attention was paid to the use of specific technologies on carbon fixation.

The sides highlighted the importance of concluding the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) aimed at the development of carbon markets in Kazakhstan in accordance with the Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Ernst&Young expressed readiness to render consulting support to Kazakhstan in implementation of the Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
