Kazakhstan eager to export oil to Belarus, unable for now

The diplomat said that in 2011 Kazakhstan extracted about 80 million tonnes of oil and plans to extract 81 million tonnes in 2012. Later on Kazakhstan plans to extract up to 130 million tonnes of oil per annum. "Therefore, Kazakhstan is interested in exporting oil to other countries, including Belarus," said the Ambassador.

The Ambassador said he hopes that by the time Kazakhstan raises its oil extraction, the Single Economic Space will be fleshed out by treaties and agreements that enable equal conditions for everyone. For now the Single Economic Space uses only basic agreements, said the diplomat, BelTA reports.

"In view of the lack of direct access to Belarus Kazakhstan cannot supply oil taking into account both Russian pipelines and the lack of final arrangements. It is up to our specialists and experts to enable mutually beneficial conditions for Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia. Only then will we be able to talk about oil deliveries," said the Ambassador.
