Kazakhstan expands grain export markets

Kazakhstan is expanding export markets for grain crops. The country exports 8-9 million tons of grains annually, 6.5-7.5 million tons of which are wheat, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Government’s press service.

The country exports grain crops to more than 40 countries. Traditional sales markets are Central Asia, Afghanistan, China, Türkiye, Iran, Italy, Tunisia.

As of late November, Kazakhstan has exported 6.3 million tons of grain. The export of new harvest amounted to 2.37 million which is 52% more compared to the same period in 2023.

Exports to Uzbekistan augmented by 42% and reached 944,000 tons, against last year’s 665,000 tons. Exports to Tajikistan rose by 49% - from 254,000 tons in 2023 to 377,000 tons in 2024.

The volume of exports to China rose by 17% - from 304,000 tons last year to 355,000 tons in the current year. Grain deliveries to Afghanistan surged by 71% - from 64,000 tons in 2023 to 115,000 tons in 2024. Exports to Iran increased by 30 times – from 10,000 tons to 299,000 tons.

It is projected that the country’s export potential will reach 12,000 tons in 2024. The main importers will be the Central Asian countries, China, Afghanistan, Italy and others. The government is currently reviewing the issue of delivering up to 2 million tons of grain annually to Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Northern Africa, and EU through the Black Sea and Baltic Sea ports.
