Kazakhstan exported 4,7 mln tons of grain - Agriculture Ministry

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The export potential of grain is estimated at 7 million tons in Kazakhstan in 2014-2015. Out of 7, 4,7 million tons have already been exported, according to Vice Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov.

"We traditionally export our grain to our Central Asian neighbors, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Iran (2,1 million tons), Russia (119,000 tons), China (55,000 tons), and the EU member states (61,000 tons)," Vice Minister Omarov said at the press conference at the Central Communications Service in Astana on Tuesday. Besides, over the last couple of years Kazakhstan has exported 1,1 million tons of wheat flour, including 685,000 tons to Central Asia and 385,000 tons to Afghanistan. In his words, the supply of grain to Iran may be increased with the launch of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway.
