The Kazakh Energy Ministry issued a press review on deliveries of planned volumes export electricity to Kyrgyzstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the agreements reached between the heads of water and energy departments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on water and energy cooperation issues dated August 25, 2023, the volumes of electricity supply from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic from September 2023 to April 2024 were determined in a total volume of up to 1,500 million kWh.

According to this, an agreement was concluded between the financial settlement center for RES LLP (Unified Purchaser of Electric Energy) and the  ‘’Electric Stations’’ open joint stock company for the sale of planned volumes of exported electrical energy exclusively during hours of surplus (excess) electricity in the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan.

These export supplies of electricity are carried out exclusively to accumulate the required water level at the Toktogul hydroelectric station, in order to further provide the southern regions of the country with the necessary volumes of irrigation water in the upcoming growing season.

At the same time, it should be noted that the further distribution of electricity within the energy system of the Kyrgyz Republic is the exclusive internal competence of power engineers of Kyrgyzstan.
