Kazakhstan eyes construction of Beijing-Astana-Kazan-Moscow highway

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Ambitious project on construction of the Beijing-Astana-Kazan-Moscow highway is being eyed by Kazakhstan, according to First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

"There is an ambitious project on construction of a highway linking Beijing, Astana, Kazan and Moscow. I believe at some point we will find solution to it," Mr. Sagintayev said at the plenary session of the 8th Astana Economic Forum on Thursday. The First Deputy Prime Minister also touched upon a multi-modal transport corridor bridging Kazakhstan and Russia with Europe, Azerbaijan and Georgia. "The new corridor will cross the entire territory of Kazakhstan up to the Aktau Sea Port in line with the President's recent instruction," Sagintayev added.
