Kazakh Ambassador Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev and Minister of Economy and Finance of Greece Konstantinos Hatzidakis discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of finance and tax administration, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh MFA.

The Kazakh ambassador briefed the minister about the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, noting the opening of the Kazakh-Hellenic Business Council and the achievement of a record volume of bilateral trade of 2.2 billion US dollars by the end of 2023. In his opinion, the intensification of business contacts between the two countries creates a request from business communities to eliminate double taxation.

For his part, the minister confirmed the willingness of the Greek side to begin negotiations on the conclusion of a bilateral Convention for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital.

The parties noted that the fact that Kazakhstan and Greece are parties to the OECD Multilateral Convention on the implementation of measures relating to tax treaties will accelerate the process of harmonizing the draft bilateral document.

Konstantinos Hatzidakis stated the interest of Greece to intensify political, economic and commercial ties with Kazakhstan, noting agriculture, energy and transport as priority areas.
