She voiced her opinion at the roundtable themed Interethnic relations in the post-Soviet space: Russia and Kazakhstan's experience held in Moscow on Thursday. Russian experts tabled peculiarities of national policy in the post-Soviet space on the threshold of the early presidential elections in Kazakhstan scheduled for April 26 and analyzed Kazakhstan and Russia's experience in preserving interethnic and interfaith accord. "I would like to give credit to our partners and colleagues in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The People's Assembly of Kazakhstan is turning 20 this year. I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate the Assembly on the upcoming anniversary," Svetlana Smirnova said. She went on to praise President Nazarbayev for paying utmost attention to the problems of interethnic peace and the Assembly's extensive experience in terms of interethnic accord. "The fact that the Assembly is headed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev demonstrates that the problems of interethnic peace and accord are of paramount importance," Ms Smirnova stressed. "The Assembly is a groundbreaking model of all-people's government representing interests of all citizens," she added.
