Kazakhstan has responsible approach to preparing for holding OSCE Summit - Nazarbayev
"We are proud and grateful for the credence given by the heads of the OSCE member states to our young country, a young democracy. We do everything to make the Summit successful", the Kazakh President said.
According to him, holding of the OSCE Summit in Astana is a clear evidence of dramatic changes that have occurred in the OSCE area for the past two decades. The Head of the State noted that the coming Summit would be a good opportunity to analyze the role of the OSCE as a leading international structure in the field of security. "Our common duty is to strengthen this organization, since it is important for us", the President noted.
N. Nazarbayev drew attention of the attendees to the vision of a Europe "stretching from the Atlantic to the Urals" proposed by French President Charles de Gaulle almost half a century ago. That concept played a big role in initiating the Helsinki Process. The Paris Charter for a New Europe allowed to adopt the system of European security principles, which serve as basis of the OSCE activity today.
"I am confident that the Summit in Astana will be the beginning of a new phase in the organization's work. It will determine the strategic directions and the "roadmap" of the process of building a system of unified and indivisible security from Vancouver to Vladivostok", N. Nazarbayev resumed.
