Kazakhstan, India signed bilateral documents

KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ Following up the negotiations between India and Kazakhstan with the participation of Presidents – Nursultan Nazarbayev and Pratibha Devisingh Patil – several documents in nuclear energy, space, oil and gas and legislative fields have been signed, Kazinform correspondent reports.

In particular, ?Kazatomprom? National Company and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) have signed a Memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation. As is known, Kazakhstan is a large producer of uranium. By 2010 ?Kazatomprom? plans to extract more than 15 thousand tons of uranium and in a year or two to join the world?s top uranium producers. In addition, Kazakhstan plans to build its first Atomic Power Plant. India in its turn has wide experience in this sector: from uranium production and its processing to construction of nuclear power plants. As for oil and gas sphere, ?Kazmunaigaz? National Company and ONGC Mittal energy Ltd have signed an Agreement on principles of exploration of Satpayev oil and gas deposit western Kazakhstan. In the field of joint struggle against crime the countries adopted a Treaty on extradition of the perpetrators of the crime. Head of ?Kazkosmos? National Space Agency Talgat Mussabayev signed a Memorandum of cooperation with his counterpart from Indian Space Research Organization. The countries also signed a Protocol on completion of negotiations on accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO.
