ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan intends to further strengthen relations in the legal field with the United States, this has been said by First Deputy Prosecutor General Johann Merkel at a press briefing on international legal cooperation.

"Kazakhstan has concluded 16 bilateral agreements with the European and 14 - with the Asian countries. In this case, in addition to nearby neighbors, priority is given to countries with which we have established trade and economic relations. A special place among our partners is engaged by the United States. However, in the short term, we intend to further strengthen the Kazakh-American relations in the legal field," said I.Merkel. In particular, at the moment we are working on the issue of Kazakhstan's accession to the inter-American conventions on mutual assistance in criminal matters dated 23 May 1992, on extradition dated 26 December 1933, and on the transfer of sentenced dated 9 June, 1993. This will regulate international cooperation in criminal matters with the countries of the American continent, emphasized the deputy Prosecutor General.
