ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A delegation of Kazakhstani parliamentarians led by Majilis Speaker Kabibulla Dzhakupov paid the first official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam this week.

During the visit, the delegation met with students of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy and attended the inaugural ceremony of the new premise of the Kazakh diplomatic mission in Vietnam. Speaker Dzhakupov told the students of the academy about the development of modern Kazakhstan and pivotal state programs initiated by President Nursultan Nazarbayev - the Kazakhstan-2050 Development Strategy, the Advanced Industrial and Innovative Development Program and the new Nurly zhol economic policy. "Many of the goals set by Vietnam for 2020 - to become an industrial economy, modernize its processing industry and increase share of knowledge-intensive industries - echo the ones outlined by President Nazarbayev in the Nurly zhol policy. Successful implementation of this policy will help Kazakhstan overcome all challenges and crises and become one of the world's 30 most competitive economies by 2050," Mr. Dzhakupov said. According to him, Saigon Hi-Tech Park is of paramount interest to Kazakhstan, especially in terms of microelectronics, energy saving and nanotechnologies. Members of the Kazakhstani delegation also took part in the opening ceremony of the new building of the Kazakh embassy in Vietnam. At the event, it was noted that Kazakhstan and Vietnam are keen to strengthen bilateral relations based on friendship, mutual trust and partnership.
