Kazakhstan is 2nd in 2024 Olympics judo medal table
As of July 29 evening, Kazakhstan ranks second in the judo medal table of the 2024 Olympic Games, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Games official website.
Japan, the birthplace of judo, tops the rankings with two gold and one bronze medals. Kazakhstan holds the second line with one gold and one bronze medal. And Uzbekistan is third with one gold award.
On July 27, the leader of the Kazakh judo team, Yeldos Smetov, won the country’s first-ever gold medal in judo at the Paris Games in men’s 60 kg. This is his third in career Olympic medal. He took silver at the Rio Games in 2016 and bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
On July 28, another Kazakh judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbaev, competing in men’s 66 kg, became a bronze medalist of the 2024 Olympics.
