This year’s edition of the Forum brought together 300 representatives of the country’s scientific community, including historians, university teachers, public figures and media representatives.

During its plenary and working sessions, the current issues to analyze, systemize and put into scientific circulation new discoveries in archeology, ethnography, ethnology, historical geography as well as the results of domestic researchers’ surveys in foreign archival, museum and library funds were under discussion.

The preparation of the academic multi-volume book ‘The history of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day,’ engaging five scientific-research institutes and up to 250 Kazakhstani scholars engaged, was discussed as well.

In his speech, State Counselor Karin stressed that the Forum of the National Congress of Historians is of paramount importance for further promoting Kazakhstani scientific historical school.

Karin highlighted that the new archeological discoveries and archival documents of the few past years indicate the need for a broader understanding of the national history.

Kazakhstan is not only the cradle of ancient forms of statehood and the successor of the once-powerful states and empires, but also the center of origin and formation of a unique nomad civilization. In this regard, the task facing domestic historical science is to expand the understanding of our history in the context of this huge civilizational paradigm, said Karin.

Earlier it was reported that State Counselor Karin participated in the meeting of the KazISS Academic Council on January 10.
