Kazakhstan is important for Belgium not only as economic partner, but as factor of ensuring stability in CA - Francois-Xavier De Donnea

BRUSSELS. March 22. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belgium and Luxembourg, Head of the Mission to the European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev has held a meeting with deputy of the Chamber of Representatives of the Parliament of Belgium, Head of the Delegation of Belgium to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr. Francois-Xavier De Donnea in Brussels.

The representative of the Belgian Parliament outlined that Kazakhstan reached significant progress in its development in such a short period of time. "Kazakhstan is important for Belgium not only as an economic partner, but as a factor of ensuring security and stability in the Central Asian region," Mr. Francois-Xavier De Donnea said.

The parliamentarian noted that Belgium highly appraises the results of Kazakhstan's successful chairmanship in the OSCE as well as the results of the Organization's Summit in Astana and the Astana Declaration. In the context of bilateral relations the Belgian deputy backed the Kazakh Ambassador's proposal on necessity of strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation as an important instrument of interaction on the legislative level.

Regarding the upcoming presidential election Mr. Francois-Xavier De Donnea supported President N.Nazarbayev's decision on conduction of open, fair and democratic elections and noted that Belgium will observe this process with special attention.

Y.Utembayev, in his turn, familiarized him with the main provisions of the President's Address to the Nation as of January 28, 2011, upcoming presidential election, internal political situation in the country, events which will be held within the 20th anniversary of independence, Kazakh initiatives on the international arena in the sphere of ensuring nuclear security.
