Kazakhstan is ready to boost its exports to Germany, says President Tokayev

During the meeting of the heads of Central Asian states and the Federal Chancellor of Germany in Astana, Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev unveiled his vision of the key areas of multifaceted cooperation within the CA – Germany format, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

First. Increase in turnover. The priority task is to boost trade through efficient implementation of joint regional projects, expanding the range of goods. For example, Kazakhstan is willing to boost its exports of goods worth $850 million to Germany, said President Tokayev.

The Kazakh leader called greater cooperation in the energy field as the priority number two.

Acting as a reliable and one of the major suppliers of energy resources to Germany, Kazakhstan is ready to increase its oil exports to the German market. We look forward to further support from German partners to ensure long-term and stable supplies of hydrocarbons. For our countries to make steady progress, it’s important to step up joint efforts in transition to alternative energy sources. We express our readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation in the promotion of hydrogen energy. Our country together with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is developing a project to construct a green energy transmission line under the Caspian Sea and further to European countries. We invite German partners to take part in this strategic project, said Tokayev.

Earlier was reported that the Presidents of Central Asian countries and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz arrived at the Independence Palace in Astana for the second Summit “Central Asia + Germany,” during which strategic cooperation and partnership in a wide range of areas, including trade and economic interaction and realization of joint investment projects, were set to be discussed.

As was previously reported, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov welcomed Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, who had arrived in Kazakhstan upon the Kazakh President’s invitation, at the airport in Astana.
