Kazakhstan ready to support Turkmenistan’s initiatives as part of Year of Peace and Trust, says Tokayev

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a phone talk with Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Kazinform News Agency cites the Akorda press service.

During the phone talk, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed further enhancement of strategic partnership between the countries.

President Tokayev congratulated the Turkmen National Leader on the International Year of Peace and Trust declared by the UN General Assembly upon the initiative of Turkmenistan.

Stressing the exceptional importance of peaceful initiatives of Ashgabat amid the global challenges, the Kazakh President expressed the readiness to further provide all-round support in their successful implementation.

In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov briefed about the key priorities of the concept of Turkmenistan’s activities during the International Year of Peace and Trust aimed to ensure cooperation and development regionally and globally.

Highlighting the current high level of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, the interlocutors discussed in detail the realization of the high-level agreements reached previously in energy, transit-transport and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Special attention was placed to the issues of regional cooperation and the upcoming events in a five-sided format.

Earlier it was reported that Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had received newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin.
