Kazakhstan, Italy to sign Strategic Partnership Treaty

sp;ROME. November 5. KAZINFORM /Yernur Akanbay/ Kazakhstan and Italy are to sign a Treaty on Strategic Partnership today, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced following the meeting with his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano.

"Both countries enjoy high level of interaction to date. A Strategic Partnership Treaty will be signed within the visit", N. Nazarbayev noted.

According to the Kazakh leader, Italy has become major economic partner of Kazakhstan over the last years. "One third of our commodity turnover with Europe falls on Italy and makes USD 14 bln. The volume of investments of Italian companies in Kazakhstan economy made USD 4.5 bln while Kazakh companies invested USD 1.5 bln in Italy. 97 joint Kazakh-Italian ventures are functioning at present", the Head of the State stressed.

As earlier reported, the Strategic Partnership Treaty between Kazakhstan and Italy is expected to be signed by N. Nazarbayev and Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi following the bilateral negotiations.
