Kazakhstan keen on expanding geography of its foreign policy and foreign economic cooperation - Berik Uali on Togolese President’s visit to Astana
President of the Togolese Republic Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is set to pay his first official visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Advisor and Press Secretary of the Kazakh President Berik Uali explained the importance of this visit for our country, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to him, Kazakhstan is keen on expanding geography of its foreign policy and foreign economic cooperation.
In this context, boosting the ties with the African countries seems promising. It should be noted that this continent is quite promising in terms of the potential of development and economic growth. China, Russia, the U.S., the EU and many other countries are paying close attention to enhancing ties with this continent. Next year, Kazakhstan and Togo will mark the 10th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. Our countries interact today within such large international organizations as the US, OIC and the African Union. Since 2013, Kazakhstan has been an observer country in the African Union which unites 54 countries of the continent, Berik Uali says.
In his words, African countries including the Togolese Republic express huge interest in Kazakhstan and its economic opportunities.
There is a good potential to bring trade and economic relations to a new level. In 2022, commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and African countries exceeded 1 billion US dollars, while in nine months of 2023, mutual trade reached 568 million US dollars. Kazakhstan is ready to raise the export of raw materials and non-resource exports to this continent. There is also a great potential for the promotion of cooperation in mining industry, agriculture, transport, logistics, tourism and education, Berik Uali added.
